Alaafin’s son: If Tinubu is killed, Nigeria will burn

From Bode Durojaiye, Oyo.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Oyo Federal Constituency, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, has warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to seriously weigh the dire consequences of
its alleged diabolical and heinous plans against national leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in order not to conflagrate the country.
Adeniyi, son of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, gave the warning on Friday while addressing thousands of
supporters at a joint rally organised for APC candidates contesting the House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate which was held in Oyo town.
He said the warning is a product of an anxiety, which wells up from the persistent re-occurrence of assassinations (or attempted assassinations) within the Nigerian polity, which have helped to re-enforce the genuineness of this worry.
Adeniyi advised the PDP to let their demonic plot perish at the planning stage, otherwise its devastating effects would be
unimaginable and unbearable.
“Regardless of PDP and its hatchet men’s persecutions, Asiwaju Tinubu remains an idol, institution, pathfinder and enigma in the country’s political terrain’’.
Reflecting on assassinations in the country’s political culture, Adeniyi noted that South-West leads in unresolved political murders.
According to him, “Each of these deaths takes a momentary centre stage in national discussions and systematically fades away into a reclusive national sub-consciousness, waiting for another gruesome murder to re-occur. Security operatives make promises of ‘leaving no stone unturned ’and ‘bringing the perpetrators to book’. Government officials display their prowess for oratory and threats. The citizens gaze in confusion and hope they never happen again. Desperate
politicians increase their orders for bullet-proof automobiles and requests for more security guards. The clouds of uncertainties, as inflicted by the PDP-led administration, hang over our heads and there remain more questions than answers.’’
The APC candidate pointed out that the country had witnessed 56 top profile political assassinations in 20 years from 1986 to 2006.
“Thirty two of those assassinations occurred in South-West of the country; and 22 of the 32 took place in Lagos. Within the period also, only 12 high profile political killings occurred in the South-East while South-South recorded five’’.
He said the unresolved high profile cases over recent history provide a glimpse of how badly security of lives and property has deteriorated under the watch of President Good Jonathan-led administration.
“The nation is living under the threat and incidents of murders,as things have degenerated to a scenario of mass murders. Despite the foregoing arrangement, there is general consensus that security of lives and property in the country has abysmally declined and has come to its lowest ebb. Even high profile crimes have not only been successfully perpetrated without prevention, but they have also largely gone unresolved and unpunished.”
Adeniyi described Femi Fani-Kayode and Governor Ayo Fayose as “morons and imbeciles whose philosophies of life are anchored on treacheries and deceitful mechanisms. They have long abandoned the path of dignity but take solace in bestialities’’.
