The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111, has pledged his continued support for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command to fight crime and criminality.
Oba Adeyemi made the promise when he hosted the new Commandant of the NSCDC in the state, Mr Adaralewa Michael Adetayo, at the palace in Oyo town on Tuesday.
“I will continue to appreciate and support the services of NSCDC toward fortifying the security of the state,” he said.

The Monarch, while welcoming the new commandant of the NSCDC to the state, urged him to sustain the good works of his predecessor.
Alaafin commended the initiative of the NSCDC in involving the female squad in its operations.
He also lauded the corps for introducing Agro Rangers which he noted would assist in tackling menace of kidnapping, banditry and conflicts.
Oba Adeyemi was particularly elated for what he referred to as ” re- jiging of NSCDC ‘s security and intelligence methodology”.
Adetayo had earlier said he was at the Palace to introduce himself to the Paramount Ruler and to as well reassure him of the mandate of the organisation as it related to issues of peace and security.
He highlighted the safe schools initiative as one of the new strategies introduced by the Commandant General of NSCDC to see to the training of more personnel especially women in enhancing security across academic institutions.
According to him, ” this is part of our new operational strategies to rejig the security architect of the State”.
On the Female Armed Squad, the new State Commandant explained that the squad main duty is to keep eagled eyes on schools, in order to arrest kidnappers.
He further hinted that the State Command of the Female Armed Squad are currently undergoing training to enhance their new assignment.
The new State Commandant who pointed out that the aura and dignity that the Alaafin used to run his domain cannot be compared with anyone, Added that his ( the monarch’s) love shown from time immemorusl to the NSCDC is wonderful and heart warming.

He also recalled and appreciated Oba Adeyemi for the role played in ensuring that the NSCDC was not merged with the Police.

The Royal Father was later presented with a plague by the new State Commandant.
