The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111, has stressed the need for Yoruba Obas to live harmoniously, just as he said that such was the condition-precedent for peace, progress and development to thrive.
Alaafin stated this on Tuesday in his palace at a reception organized in honour of the 41st Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, who paid him a courtesy visit.
Oba Adeyemi said the quantum of development which the nation would experience in a harmonious and peaceful environment cannot be underestimated and, therefore, all hands must be on deck to promote peace.
The paramount ruler asserted that the history of the country cannot be complete without reference to the Yoruba nation, and as such, both the rulers must jealously guard and improve on their historical relationship.
The monarch, who acknowledged a long-standing relationship between him and the Olubadan before ascending the thrones, described him as ‘hard working and God-fearing’.
Oba Adeyemi said besides the fact the Olubadan’s visit was not new, as similar visits were paid by the duo of late Oba Ogundipe and Asanike who were former Olubadans, he also declared the gestures as an indication of cordial relationship that existed between the two monarchs.
Earlier, the Olubadan said his visit was in appreciation of Alaafin’s support for him before, during and after his coronation.
The Olubadan later presented some gift items to the Alaafin.
