Akwa United sent 3SC back into the relegation zone after a 1-0 home win at the Uyo Township Stadium on Sunday.

Akwa United are now 10th on the league table with 37 points, while 3SC are 18th with 33 points.

Davis Ukeme scored the only goal in the 57th minute, when he capitalised on a defensive error involving Francis Edem and goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye to nod home.

Ajiboye was outstanding as he made several big saves including a 23rd minute block off Emmanuel Enize’s powerful drive from inside the 18-yard box as well as another when the same player was face-to-face with him.

Akwa United skipper Ini Akpan said they deserved the victory.

“Playing 3SC has never been easy, so this game was tough as expected, but we put in our best because we were determined to win and we thank God we got the deserved victory.” Akpan said.

An Alaba Johnson brace in the 32nd and 90th minutes made sure Wikki Tourists sent Sunshine Stars back to Akure empty handed.
