Afonja Descendants reject Saraki as Senate President

From Bode Durojaiye,Oyo.

The Afonja Descendants Union (ADU) in Ilorin, Kwara State, has kicked against the election of Senator Bukola Saraki as the Senate President.
To the union, anyone having a case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) “cannot be a reliable companion of President Muhammadu Buhari in his anti-corruption war”.
Speaking in Ogbomoso on Monday, leader of the union, Alhaji Abdulkareem Olola Kasum, described Saraki’s election as “a sham, affront to balancing of political equation, misnormal and unacceptable clandestine design in collusion with some PDP senators to scuttle the Buhari administration.’’
Kasum said it was a universal practice that in every war situation, not less a democratic political war, “cessation of hostilities is always followed by a period of jostling for the spoil of war among the victorious allies. This is the time when principal war mongers employ available means at their disposal to secure substantive share of the gains of the war.
“Naturally, it is now time to share available party executive and legislative offices equitably among the victorious zonal political leaders without unduly disrupting the principle of balance of power, ethnically, religiously and culturally.’’
Kasum, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, wondered where there is balancing of political and religious equations at the federal level.
He said he would continue to support the APC leadership choice of Senator Ahmed Lawan for the number three position.
