The Anambra State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the suspension of all party congresses across the state until further notice.

The decision was disclosed in a joint statement issued in Awka on Wednesday by the state Chairman, Patrick Obianyo, and Secretary, Lawrence Okeke.

According to the party leadership, the move is aimed at ensuring strict adherence to the rule of law and due process during ongoing internal engagements.

The statement emphasized the party’s commitment to respecting judicial authority while consultations continue at the national level.

ADC leaders called on party members and stakeholders in Anambra to remain calm and maintain order during the suspension period.

They urged supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid any actions that could disrupt unity within the party.

The party assured members that fresh dates for the congresses and other activities would be announced after the conclusion of ongoing meetings and consultations at the national level.

This, it said, would ensure a more coordinated and legally compliant process.

The statement reaffirmed the legitimacy of the Obianyo-led executive committee, insisting that it remains the recognized leadership structure of the party in the state.

The ADC also advised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the public to disregard any instructions or announcements issued by unauthorized individuals.

The party concluded by encouraging its members to uphold unity, discipline, and cooperation as it navigates the current phase.

It stressed that maintaining internal harmony would be crucial to strengthening the party’s position ahead of future political activities.
