Detectives are on the trail of some kidnappers who struck on Monday in Kogi State, abducting 80-year-old American missionary, Rev. Phyllinx Sogor.
Rev. Sogor was attending to some teachers in her nursery and primary school in Emiworo, Ajaokuta Local Government when the incident happened.
Freedom Online learned that some of the teachers asked the strangers what they wanted, not knowing that they were kidnappers.
Two of the kidnappers immediately pulled out guns and told the teachers to lie down. They complied immediately. Thinking that they were petty thieves, Rev. Sogor was said to have told them that there was no money in her office but the kidnappers forcefully seized and took her away through a thick forest behind the school.
Before policemen came, they had disappeared with her.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Sola Collins Adebayo, confirmed the incident.
“ We have spread our dragnet and I am sure we will rescue her alive. I will just appeal to the villagers to assist us with information”.
