Six men: Mustapha Moshood, Gbenga Adeniyi, Oche Augustin, Gbenga Shosanwo, Amos Jonathan and Samsondeen Abdulai, were on Thursday brought before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for stealing household items valued at N84,737,500.
The defendants, aged between 18 and 36 years, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy to commit felony, malicious intent, burglary and stealing.
However, the men all pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
The Prosecutor, Insp Adegeshin Famuyiwa, informed the court that the defendants committed the offences sometime between Jan.9 and May at Haven Lounge, Okegbegun area of Ikorodu.
The prosecutor said the defendants broke into the house to steal and damaged property worth N84,737,500 belonging to one Mrs Adenike Raji-Ayeni.
Famuyiwa listed some of the property said to have been stolen by the defendant to include: JBL, slave Earthquake, 15″ top speaker, compressor, LG 5 tons, 3LG Tv remote, Television modulator, entrance door, one skeleton outdoor unit and others.
The prosecutor added that the defendant maliciously damaged window burglary and canopy.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 411, 340, 287 and 328(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate A.O. Ogbe granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Ogbe adjourned the case till July 4 for mention.
