A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, Onwuka Ndukwo, has criticised Obasi Uba over his alleged endorsement of a candidate of another political party ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the development as unsurprising.
Ndukwo alleged that Uba had consistently worked against the interests of the APC, including during the 2023 general elections in his Abiriba community.
In a chat with journalists on Tuesday, at his Umuahia residence, the APC chieftain urged the leadership of the party in Ohafia Local Government Area to examine Uba’s activities and, where necessary, institute disciplinary proceedings in line with the party’s constitution.
He maintained that the APC remained strong and would not be distracted by the political choices of individual members ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, no serious political candidate should place trust in individuals whose political loyalty, he alleged, had repeatedly shifted when it mattered most.
“Obasi Uba, who claims to be a chieftain of the APC, has always been a mole in the party, working against the interest of the party. He worked against the party in 2023 in his Abiriba community. He has always been a betrayer. So, Abia APC should never take him seriously.
“In fact, the party in Ohafia LGA should institute disciplinary action against him. Just like Uche Ogah, they both openly worked against the APC in 2023. It is not a hidden fact. We know.
“So, endorsing a candidate of another party in 2027 is not surprising. It is not a new thing. It’s their trademark. It won’t stop the APC from triumphing. They tried it in 2023 but failed. God is bigger than them,” Ndukwo said.
He further argued that political parties could only remain strong when members demonstrated consistency and respect for collective decisions, adding that internal disagreements should not become an excuse for openly working against the party.
Ndukwo called on APC members and supporters across Ohafia LGA and Abia State to remain focused on strengthening the party ahead of 2027 rather than being distracted by what he described as the activities of individuals pursuing interests outside the party.
He expressed confidence that the APC would approach the next general elections as a united and formidable political force, insisting that the actions of a few individuals would not determine the party’s electoral fortunes.
