DETERMINED to mend all the cracks in the party, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, on Friday, held secret meetings with former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), and Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State.
Venue of the meeting with the former Head of State, which lasted for close to one hour, was the Minna Uphill residence.
With Mu’azu were 15 party members. They included the PDP National Youth Leader, Alhaji Abdullahi Maibasera, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Ghali Umar Na’Abba, state PDP acting chairman, Tanko Beji and others.
After the meeting, Babangida refused to speak with journalists but Mu’azu said he was in Minna as part of his reconciliatory move to ensure that peace returns to the party.
He said: “I am here in continuation of my visit to our elders and I had a fruitful meeting with the former President. It was a fruitful meeting. What we discussed is not meant for public consumption. All I can say is that we had a fruitful discussion”.
The meeting with the governor was held in his private residence. It lasted for 20 minutes.
