The Presidency has denied a media report that stated that the activities slated to mark the 2013 Democracy Day had been cancelled.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Sam Nwaobasi, the Special Assistant on Media to the Secretary of the Government of the Federation on Tuesday in Abuja.

It reaffirmed that President Goodluck Jonathan would on Wednesday May 29, present the mid-Term Report, adding that the event “will hold on Wednesday May 29, at the International Conference Centre, Abuja by 10 am as earlier announced.

“President Jonathan will present to the nation, his administration’s Mid-Term Report as the main event for this year’s Democracy Day Celebration,” the statement said.

It said that “the clarification became necessary in view of the false and totally misleading news story in a newspaper of Monday May 27, captioned: “Again, FG cancels Democracy Day Celebrations”.

“For emphasis, activities for the 2013 Democracy Day Celebration had commenced since on Friday with National Juma`at Prayer at the National Mosque, Abuja.

“This was followed by an inter-denominational church service on Sunday at the National Christian Centre, Abuja,” the statement said.

Consequently, it said all the invited guests should be seated at the venue of the event by 9.30 a.m.
