DEFILEMENT CASES ON THE SPIKE CP ALAMUTU CAUTIONS NEGLECTFUL PARENTING STYLES
Penultimate week not less than four defilement cases were incidented, and the spike of it has made the Commissioner of Police CP ALAMUTU ABIODUN MUSTAPHA psc to send messages through this platform to parents to embrace authoritative and supporting style of parenting skills which at the long run will build obedience, discipline, and confidence in their children.
Another case of defilement was incidented at Odogbolu Division in Ogun State, where a parent at Agbowa road Aiyepe Ijebu, reported that one Lawal Hammed “m” 20yrs of 5 ABA Quarters wilfully and unlawfully had canal knowledge of his 11yrs old daughter inside his bathroom.
He further narrated that the suspect has been harassing his daughter sexually for a long time, but he did not mention what steps he took to scare off the suspect off his 11yrs old daughter.
The victim has been taken to Odogbolu General Hospital for medical examination, emotional therapy and counselling.
The law of defilement in Nigeria is trite, Section 218 of the Criminal Code Act. The section states that Any person who has unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 13 years is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for life. This is for the determination of the Court. As soon as investigation is concluded, the suspect 20yrs old Hammed person who is deemed to know the law by virtue of being above 18yrs,will be charged to Court on the strength of material evidence from forensic examination.
