The Zamfara Government on Monday reiterated its readiness to sustain partnership with UNICEF on health, education and women development sectors of the state.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Director General, Media and Communication to the State Governor, Dr Dauda Lawal, Malam Nuhu Anka.
According to the statement, Gov Lawal disclosed this while hosting UNICEF delegation, led by Dr Maryam Sa’id at the Government House Gusau.
The governor said his administration remained committed to collaborate with development partners to move the state forward.
“My administration will continue partnering with UNICEF, more especially in the areas of healthcare, education and women development.
“I am ever ready to pay counterpart findings on projects that will touch lives of the masses, I am therefore appealing to UNICEF to give more interventions to the state, considering the security challenges ,” the governor said.
He assured UNICEF officials and their staff of their safety while conducting their activities in the state.
The statement further said that Gov Lawal, who thanked UNICEF for the visit, urged them to give more attention to the state, considering its security challenges for over a decade.
Earlier, the leader of the UNICEF delegation, Dr Maryam Sa’id, assured of it’s readiness to invest more in the state.
“We are ready to continue working with Zamfara Government, especially in the area of validating state development plan,” she added.
According to her, the UNICEF invested over N2 billion in 2022.
