Zamfara Govt earmarks N7bn to construct Govt House, N1.1bn for Hajj Camp, vehicles, N1bn to renovate palaces

Zamfara State Government has earmarked N7 billion in the 2020 Budget for the construction of a new Government House, according to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Bala Bello.
Bello disclosed this in Gusau on Thursday after defending the 2020 budget proposals of his office at the House of Assembly.
Bello said that the state government resolved to construct a new Government House ‘considering the  need for it’.
“You know our current Government House was the Gusau Local Government Secretariat during the old Sokoto State.
“It was used as a temporary Government House when the state was created in 1996.
“We need a modern Government House to fit into the league of modern states in the country.
“We also considered getting a new Government House to take care of the shortage of government offices.
“When the project is completed, the current government house will be converted to a Secretariat,” he said.
Meanwhile, the state government has also earmarked N700 million in the 2020 budget for procurement of relief materials for Internally Displaced Persons and assistance to disaster victims in the state.
The Senior Special Assistant to the state Governor on State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Maj. Aliyu Maradun (rtd), disclosed this after defending the 2020 budget proposal of the agency.
Maradun said that part of the money would be used for execution of some capital projects by the agency.
Also, the state government has earmarked N1.1 billion for the construction of a new Hajj camp and procurement of utility vehicles and ambulances.
Chairman of the state Hajj Commission, Alhaji Abubakar S-Fawa, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen shortly after defending his commission’s 2020 budget proposals at the state House of Assembly, in Gusau on Thursday.
S-Fawa said that part of the proposed amount would also be used to sponsor the officials in the 2020 hajj exercise and take care of other welfare packages of the pilgrims from the state.
The chairman reiterated the Gov. Bello Matawalle-led administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of pilgrims and ensuring effective hajj exercises in the state.
The state government will also spend over N1 billion to complete the renovation of Emirs’ palaces in the state.
Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Alhaji Yahaya Chado, made the disclosure while defending his ministry’s 2020 budget proposal at the Assembly.
Chado pledged to continue partnering with the Assembly to ensure effective service delivery at the local government council.
Also speaking at the budget defence exercise, the Chief Registrar of the state High Court, Gusau, Alhaji Bello Kucheri, said that government planned to spend N1.1 billion for the execution of capital projects under the state Ministry of Justice.
Kucheri noted that the money was earmarked for the construction and renovation of magistrate courts across the state.
