Zamfara governor refers to Wike as ‘this guy’, describes Rainbow Coalition as ‘nonsense’, vows to ‘discuss FCT Minister’s matter’ with Tinubu

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has described the Rainbow Coalition platform being championed by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, as politically vague.
Referring to the former Rivers State Governor as ‘this guy’, he promised to discuss his matter with President Bola Tinubu when the president returns from his working leave.
An angry Lawal spoke in an interview with Channels Television’s Inside Sources on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, the United States (U.S.).

In plain and clear language, he told the minister to make his political position clear over his involvement with the Rainbow Coalition, insisting that Wike cannot simultaneously support the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties.

Wike is having a running battle with APC Governors, led by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, over his insistence in using the Rainbow Coalition platform, not only in supporting Tinubu’s reelection in 2027 but also supporting other parties in fielding candidates for governorship, national and state assemblies elections.
Uzodimma and APC governors have described the move as ‘arrant nonsense’.
Reiterating the governors’ position, Lawal declared that Wike must choose where his political allegiance lies.
“Our message is very very clear, be on one side, you can’t be on two sides. If you are in APC, please come out and support the APC, not that you are supporting APC here and you are supporting some other political parties somewhere else.
“We (APC governors) maintain our stand and the message is very clear. He (Wike) can speak, he can say whatever he wants to say, but our position has been very clear, APC all the way from head to toe,” he said.
Asked whether the governors were asking Wike to join the APC, Lawal replied, “Exactly!”.
He also said he would discuss Wike’s matter with Tinubu when the president returns from his working vacation in France.

“It’s something I will discuss with the president when he comes back. Let there be a clear line where this guy belongs. It’s either he is in APC or he is out, simple. So, I go with my brothers, the governors”.
