Youth group appeals to Ugwuanyi to develop Inyi Community

Inyi Native Youth Assembly (INYA), a group representing Inyi community in Enugu State has appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to develop infrastructure in the community.
Mr Jude Chikama, the Public Relations Officer of the Abuja branch of the group, made the appeal on Thursday in Abuja.
Chikama, who decried the continuous neglect and relegation of the community by the government of the state and the previous administrations, said that he was prompted by the widespread impression that the governor had turned the state to “a mini London’’.
 
“Since Nigeria came into existence, my community has never had electricity, not even a single pole has ever been erected by any government both past and present.
 
“Even when we as a people try to contribute money to embark on this project, you find out that there is no help that comes from the government, this has made the community to accept darkness as a culture and norms.
 
“There is no single tarred road that can connect my community to any part of the State; in fact, our community does not know how a grader looks like because it has never worked on our roads before.
 
Chikama said that there was need for the government to put in place a good road network in the community because the it  produces variety of cash crops that needed to be transported to other communities for economic benefit.
 
He said that the lack of health centre services in the community had caused some minor illnesses to take many lives and called on the government “to do the needful’’.
 
He added that for people in the community to access health care facilities, they would have to travel a 30kms to Obolo Afor to get such services.
 
According to him, the community faces a bigger challenge in the area of potable water, which is more noticeable during the dry season.
 
 
Chikama said that people also embarked on journey to the next community in search of good water to drink and called on the attention of government to these numerous challenges on the community.
