The Rector, Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Obafemi Omokungbe, on Saturday said that the institution had made significant achievements and progress in the outgoing year.

Omokungbe made the remark in his Christmas and New Year message, according to a statement signed by Mr Joe Ejiofor, the Deputy Registrar of YABATECH.

The rector, an engineer, said that the year had witnessed positive developments in the institution.

Omokungbe said: “We have had a lot to thank God for; his protection and guidance in the past years despite the challenges that surround us.

“This outgoing year, we have achieved and made significant progress.

“Among our successes are physical and infrastructure development, academic standards and enhancement, human capacity development, staff and student welfare, and administrative restructuring.

“The modest achievements recorded during the tenure of this administration could not have been possible without your support and encouragement, I thank you all immensely, may God reward everyone abundantly,” he said.

He expressed appreciation to the College management, members of staff, unions, students, alumni, friends of the college, and other critical stakeholders for their loyalty, commitment, and steadfastness in the course of his tenure.

On the Yuletide, Omokungbe implored Nigerians to exhibit Christ-like lifestyle daily and contribute to nation building.

He said by so doing, people would have the enthusiasm to live right, carrying out good deeds and extending kindness to others.

“As we celebrate this Christmas and forthcoming New Year, I implore you all, Christian and non-Christian alike, to reflect on the teaching of Jesus Christ our Saviour and strive harder to manifest every aspect of the teaching in our daily life and our contributions to our dear nation.

“As 2022 is coming to an end, there is need to engage in introspection by taking stock of how we have lived our lives and contributions to the development of our dear nation, Nigeria,” he added.
