In its continued commitment at touching lives of the underprivileged, Firstline Group, has concluded plans to host 5,000 children in its annual Lagos Children Christmas party billed for Tuesday, December 15, 2015.
Meant for children in public primary schools in Lagos, the festival will hold at Opebi Primary School, behind KFC, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos at 9am.
In a press statement, Adetola Okanlawon, chief executive, Firstline Group, disclosed that Firstline is also the initiator of FeedTheFutureToday, a CSR initiative committed to uplifting children, the future leaders.
Okanlawon stated that the Lagos Children Christmas party is another free-for-all party, celebrating the yuletide for the kids, especially those in public primary schools.
“We chose children of public schools because they are mostly the ones, not born with the Silver Spoon. Therefore, the party is a pro-poor, pro-children initiative. We envision positive memories among the children in the midst of not-too-impressive happenings in the society and we tilted to the path offun because children like fun.It births and creates positive thinking, attitude and giving cultures. Lagos Children Christmas Party is not a child of circumstance neither is it for some form of recognition. The festival is one of our own humble ways of giving back, “he said.
He emphasised that the feast is not a publicity stunt as the company has done so many things for the underprivileged unnoticed.
“For instance, FeedTheFutureToday, particularly identifies with these kids every month to feed their minds with lessons of values needed for the future and positive mindset whilst also celebrating the birthday of the children of the month. Also, through the initiative, we change their worn-out school uniforms and foot-wears plus gift and cash items, just to give these kids some sense of belonging.”
Akeem Ayanlowo, chief operator officer, said the Lagos Children Christmas Party, has the objective of inculcating in Nigerians the spirit of giving and helping the poor to come alive, especially during the Yuletide.“We have many partners who have achieved this success with us together and we appreciate them in no small measure. We encourage individuals and organisations to always come out and stand for the less privileged. ”
The party is an annual children’s party meant to create emotional connectedness between Firstline and the Nigerian child who is not so privileged. Every year, the festival gets the kids together and distribute free food, gift items, and goodie bags. Other fun frills are competitions and games.
Partners of the Lagos Children Christmas Party include Integrated Systems and Devices Limited, Bakers World, Total Nigeria, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, Daystar, Haansbro, Rite Foods, Swagelok Nigeria, Konga, among others.
