WTD: Enugu remains preferred tourists’ destination, says Tourism Board GM

The General Manager, Enugu State Tourism Board, Chief Steve Odo, says the state has remained the preferred tourists’ destination for the past six years in the country.
Odo said this on Monday in Enugu.
He spoke on the import of the World Tourism Day to the growth of tourism in the state.
Odo said the “water-tight security” in the state had provided a conducive environment for tourism and hospitality businesses to thrive.
“It is obvious that tourists like peace and security, while experience had shown in the past six years that the state has remained the most peaceful in the country.
“So, Enugu State being peaceful, secure and always hospitable has continued to attract tourists and other visitors.
“Being a tourism friendly governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has invested much in peace and security, hence making the state conducive for tourists and visitors alike to come and enjoy themselves,” he said.
Odo also said the prevailing peace in the state had led to a boost in the hospitality industry.
He said the World Tourism Day raises people’s consciousness about the need to rest because God rested on the seventh day after His creation work.
“So, it is scriptural to rest or relax and residents of the state are joining the rest of the world to observe the day in a convivial and hospitable mood today.
“We are even celebrating more due to the conducive environment created by the governor and residents welcoming nature and lots of night-life activities,” Odo said.
NAN reports that the theme for this year’s World Tourism Day is “Tourism for inclusive growth”.
The day is set aside to draw the attention of the people and government to issues surrounding tourism and its growth worldwide.
