The Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Oluwatoyin Gafaar, on Friday described the commitment exhibited by the workforce of the commission as the reason behind the success of sports administration in Lagos State.

Gafaar said the retiring officers had contributed immensely to the development of sports in Lagos State.

“We are the pacesetter when it comes to sports development and administration in Nigeria and this success story is hinged on the fact that we have dedicated staff.

“Over the years, Lagos State has been able to distinguished itself in many sports competitions and activities across Nigeria and beyond, expectedly the staff made it possible through their hard-work.

“We will continue to give our best to the country as we expect more outstanding achievements by the state, which will be made possible by our staff,” he said.

Gafaar praised the retirees for their meritorious service rendered to the commission and also advised those in service to give their best.

“The retirees have given the best of their lives to LSSC and the state, having spent the mandatory 35 years.

“This shows that they have used the better part of their lives in the sport commission, and we say a big thank you to them for their selfless service.

“My advice to the coming ones is that whatever they do people are watching and we will want them to leave a good legacy behind,” he said.

Aina said he would be remembered for creating a database for all the workers of the commission, while Kolawole said it had been a good experience working tirelessly to raise many stars for Lagos State.

“I have supervised many grassroots competitions where we have seen many stars developed for Nigeria.

“I have passion for grassroots development of sport, which Lagos is best known for,” he said.
