Afrobeats superstar Wizkid is set to headline the opening concert of the 2026 Detty December Fest, scheduled to take place in Lagos from December 18 to December 30.

The organisers, Livespot360, announced on Friday that the award-winning singer will lead the grand opening concert as part of an expanded festival experience featuring multiple entertainment stages.

According to the organisers, Wizkid’s appearance will mark a return to the city where his music journey began while further strengthening Lagos’ reputation as a major global entertainment destination during the festive season.

Two-Stage Experience Planned for Festival

Livespot360 said this year’s festival will introduce a two-stage format designed to offer a wider range of entertainment experiences.

The Detty Festival Stage will feature major headline performances, while the Detty Pulse Stage will focus on nightlife experiences, cultural programmes, emerging artists and daily entertainment activities.

Additional performers for the festival are expected to be announced in the coming months.

Music, Culture and Lifestyle Attractions

Organisers said attendees will experience a combination of live concerts, aerial performances, talent showcases, food experiences, DJ nights and family-friendly activities.

Other attractions planned include a Christmas Grotto, Gen Z Republik and pop-up markets highlighting Lagos’ creative economy, culture and lifestyle.

The festival aims to bring together music lovers, tourists, brands and creatives during the December holiday period.

Organisers Promise Bigger African Entertainment Platform

Deola Art-Alade, Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of The 360Co, said the 2026 edition would build on the success of the inaugural festival.

She said the organisers were focused on creating more opportunities for artists, brands and audiences to engage with African culture on a larger platform.

“Last year proved there was a real appetite for a festival of this scale in Lagos. This year, we are building on that momentum,” she said.

Dare Art-Alade, Co-Founder and Group Chief Creative Officer of The 360Co, said the Detty Pulse Stage would provide emerging artists with opportunities to perform alongside established stars.

He added that African music’s growing global influence required entertainment platforms that matched that ambition.

Lagos Strengthens December Entertainment Tourism

The organisers said Detty December Fest forms part of Livespot’s continued investment in developing large-scale entertainment experiences across Africa.

Livespot has previously produced major entertainment events on the continent, including bringing American rapper Cardi B to Nigeria and Ghana for her first performances in both countries.

Tickets for Detty December Fest 2026 are already available, with organisers expecting the event to further promote Lagos as a hub for music, tourism and cultural experiences during the festive season.

Successful First Edition

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the festival follows a successful debut edition, which attracted more than 40,000 attendees at Ilubirin, Lagos.

The first edition featured international and African acts including Busta Rhymes, Gunna, Tiwa Savage, Shenseea, Juma Jux, Diamond Platnumz, Wande Coal, Phyno, Fave, Young Jonn, Qing Madi and Ice Prince.
