*Benue Media Tour: The Governor Alia Strides Media Executives Saw

Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration prioritizes accountability and open governance. This much, he has demonstrated countless times and those who are genuine lovers of good governance can attest.

That is why we believe that when people ask questions, whether foolishly, mischievously or from the point of true ignorance, there is a need to throw some light.

The recently concluded Benue Media Tour offered visiting media executives a curated glimpse into the state’s development narrative.

Across project sites, they encountered a mix of ongoing infrastructure works, rehabilitated public facilities, and policy-driven initiatives presented as evidence of progress.

We highlighted and took them round completed projects including roads under construction, health, Commerce and education interventions, and reforms aimed at improving service delivery.

Beyond the prepared itineraries, the tour also revealed the familiar tension between promise and performance.

As attested to by some members of the team who spoke to the media, some projects reflected genuine forward movement. The media personnel while on site raised questions about scale, sustainability, and impact of some of the project and answered were accordingly provided by the government officials including technocrats and professionals on ground.

The tour underscored the importance of moving beyond optics to measurable outcomes, where progress is judged not by presentation alone, but by how deeply it improves the daily lives of the people of Benue State.
