Former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida has advised Nigerians to support the incoming APC led-government of Muhammadu Buhari, to ensure peace in the country.
Babangida made the call on Monday in the company of a former Head of State, General Abdusalami Abubakar, when the duo paid a goodbye visit to the outgoing governor of Niger State, Dr Babangida Aliyu, at his residence in Minna.

“The peace enjoyed after the general elections must be sustained, for any government to succeed its people must support it

“I am concerned just as other Nigerians, whether during transition or not, every developing country has its own peculiar problems and there have to be a government to find solutions to the problems.’’

Also speaking, Abubakar urged Aliyu to endeavour to share his experiences of governance with the incoming administration in the state, so as to sustain the peace.

Responding, Aliyu commended the elder statesmen, saying, “my elder brothers are very instrumental to the peace and unity we are enjoying in the country today.

“Many Nigerians were apprehensive before the general elections, but this is one of the most peaceful elections we ever had in the country.

“I am very happy for us because the people accepted the results without bickering.

“We believe our two elder brothers have the knowledge and vast experience and a lot to offer and do for the country.

“ Many of us may not know that they did underground work to douse the tension because of their concern for the unity and development of the country.

“Their actions are always for the best of the country’’.
