Warri Wolves stop Kano Pillars

Warri Wolves defeated league champions Kano Pillars 3-1 in continuation of the Super 4 in Abuja on Friday.
It was Wolves first win in the tournament and they now have three points while Pillars have four points.
The first chance of the game fell on Warri wolves Sikiru Adewale in the 12th minute when he skips past a marker and had his shot blocked, Stamley Dimgba got the rebound and his effort was saved by Theophilus Afelokhai in Pillars goal.
Warri Wolves broke the deadlock in the 13th minute through Sikiru Adewale who connected Omodiagbe’s pass from close range. This was moments after goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai had made a save.
In the 34th minute, Adewale doubled Wolves lead to get his brace off Stanley Dimgba’s pass.
Four minutes to the end of the first half, Christian Obiozor pulled a goal back for Pillars when he capitalised on Joseph Osadiaye’s error.
In the 53rd minute, Bartholomew Ibenegbu restored Wolves two-goal lead with a superb volley off Stanley Dimgba’s cross.
Michael Egbeta, Joseph Osadiaye and Stanley Dimgba were handful for Pillars defence with their skills and pace.
In the 67th minute, Sikiru Adewale was denied a hat-trick by Afelokhai, who saved after Reuben Ogbonnaya in a one-on-one situation.
Pillars had two free kicks in quick successions but they failed to convert – Anthony Abawula’s effort in the 70th minute was saved by Akpeyi, while Cletus Itodo fired his effort way off target.
Ten minutes to the end of the game, Joseph Osadiaye was denied by Afelokahi.
And in the closing minutes, Wolves goalkeeper Akpeyi kick out found Rabiu Ali, who struck from 35 yards but it was off target.
