Warri Wolves players have said the management of the Seasiders owes them 12 months of their enhanced salaries.
The League Management Company (LMC) said recently that they are in possession of confirmed evidence of payment of outstanding salaries to the players and officials from the management.
A source said the management only paid the basic salaries up to the month of November and yet to make any form of payment for December.
“It’s proper to put things in right perspective concerning the statement credited to LMC that they have confirmed evidence of payment of our outstanding salaries that’s deceptive as it could be read to mean we have been paid to the last Kobo and up to date all our salaries and entitlements.
“That’s not the true position of things right now the truth remains that what they management paid was our basic salaries up to the month of November as we are yet to receive any form of payment in December.
“The basic salaries were the ones the management was paying before the LMC stepped in to stop payment of sign-on-fee in place of enhanced salary.
“So, what the management paid was the basic salaries which saw various players receiving varying amount ranging from N80,000 to N120,000.
“The enhanced salary for the whole of immediate past season has not been paid which places different cadre of players on monthly salary ranging from N500,000 to N600,000.
“Right now, the management owes us 12 months of the enhanced salary that’s for the out gone 2014/15 NPFL season and this is the core of club’s indebtedness to us though they have been promising to pay.
“In addition, we are owed 15% of previous season’s sign-on-fee, seven-match bonuses of our Caf Confederation Cup campaign as well as six league-match bonuses.
“It’s only the players who came in during the introduction of enhanced salary that’s the 2014/15 season that actually earned the improved salary while the old ones were put on bye due to their subsisting two-year contract.
“So, we owe ourselves and the public this explanation so that nobody will be deceived by the LMC claim and it’s our plead that LMC should not kick start the new season until every indebtedness owe to the players in various clubs is paid to the last dime,” said the unnamed source to supersport.com.
Warri Wolves will campaign in the CAF Champions League together with champions, Enyimba and already have date against the Sao Tome and Principe side, Sporting Praia Cruz in the second week of February at the Warri City Stadium.
