van Persie hints at Man Utd exit

Manchester United striker, Robin van Persie, has hinted that he could quit the club this summer as he seeks to secure his place in the Netherlands squad for next year’s European Championships.

The Dutchman fell down the pecking order under his former national team boss, Louis van Gaal, last season. He scored 10 goals in 27 games, ending the season behind Captain Wayne Rooney and Radamel Falcao in Van Gaal’s plans.
Van Persie, 31, has suggested he might move on if his playing time doesn’t look like improving.
But he says that his wife Bouchra and his family will have the final say on where, if anywhere, he plays his football next season.
He said: “Next year is the European Championship. That tournament is going to play a big role in the choice I will make.

“I have to be in my best form. But most important is the wish of my wife and children.

“Whatever I do, Bouchra, Shaqueel and Dina Layla are the highest of my priorities. They have to be happy.”

Van Persie is entering the final 12 months of the four-year contract he signed when he arrived at Old Trafford from Arsenal in a £24m switch in 2012.

He has been linked with a transfer to Italy in recent weeks.
