A US-based sports entrepreneur, Mr Olanrewaju Ekundina, has been turbaned as the ‘Dan Majen Kufana’ by the Agom Kufana (Chief of Kufana chiefdom), Mr Titus Dauda.

Kufana, a chiefdom consists of nine wards in Kajuru Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna state.

Ekundina was also on the same day turbaned as the ‘Sadaukin Chikun’ of the Chikun Chiefdom, Chikun LGA of Kaduna, by the Etsu Chikun, Mr Isyaku Yari.

Speaking to newsmen after the first event in Kufana on Friday, the Agom Kufana said he met Ekundina who showed interest in uplifting the less privileged and other potentialities in the chiefdom.

“We realised that if we recognize him, he will do more, then we decided to turban him as the Dan Majen Kufana, for the benefit of the Chiefdom and Kaduna State in general,” he said.

Describing Ekundina as a philanthropist, Dauda said he had positively touched the lives of the less privileged, including orphans and women, adding that the title was well deserved.

The Chief, therefore, said the significance of the title was to encourage Ekundina in doing more in bigger dimensions in his acts of philanthropy across the Chiefdom.

Speaking of insecurity in the Chiefdom, Dauda said they were in very close contact with the Police, Military and other security operatives to ensure the safety of lives and properties in the Chiefdom.

“Our closeness with security operatives is yielding fruits as we are now enjoying peaceful coexistence in the Chiefdom,” he said.

He restated his commitment in offering good leadership to his people, irrespective of religion or tribe, and also embracing anyone who brings development to the Chiefdom.

He urged the people to reciprocate by being law abiding to constituted authorities .

Also speaking to newsmen, the newly- turbaned Dan Majen Kufana, Olanrewaju Ekundina, expressed gratitude to God for his successful enthronement.

Ekundina, who is the CEO of a football academy, Triple ‘O’ Sporting Club, said he is expanding his scope to basketball, volleyball and tennis, which he promised could be made available to many youth in the chiefdom.

He added that the titles were a morale booster for him in his philanthropy.

Ekundina said his motivation was “I was not born with a silver spoon, I worked hard for any single penny I have, I know how it feels to be poor, when God blessed me, I decided to engage in philanthropic acts.
