Even before the commencement of voting on Saturday at the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), some power brokers in the 19-year-old party have decided that Prince Uche Secondus must take the baton of leadership from Senator Ahmed Makarfi.
To ensure this, harmonised names of ‘favoured’ aspirants to offices have been compiled in an arrangement tagged ‘Unity List’.
Led by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, his Ekiti State counterpart, Ayodele Fayose, and some members of the National Assembly, the new power brokers of the party vowed that all the names in the list must emerge victorious after voting.
Some agents of the governors were seen showing voters the list of favoured candidates.
Making the list are Secondus, Senator Ibrahim Tsauri from Katsina (Secretary); Hon Aribisala Adewale from Ekiti (Treasurer); Abdullahi Husseini Mainasara from Niger (Financial Secretary); Colonel Austin Akobondu (rtd) from Abia (Organising Secretary) and Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan from Kogi (Publicity Secretary).
Others are Emmanuel Enoidem from Akwa Ibom (Legal Adviser); Mai Adamu Mustafa from Yobe (Auditor); Hajia Mariya Waziri from Kebbi (Women Leader) and Hon. Udeh Okoye from Enugu (Youth Leader), among others.
