Less than 24 hours after the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, visited President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja and declared his presidential ambition, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State did same on Tuesday.
After a closed-door meeting with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Umahi, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, declared his aspiration to succeed Buhari in 2023.
Umahi said he informed Buhari of his ambition to vie for the APC presidential ticket.
When asked by reporters what his chances would be against the background that other big political figures, including Tinubu, had indicated intentions to run for the same office, the governor said “God would be the decider of the outcome of the race”.
