Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has received the First News Magazine’s Man of the Millennium Award.
At the Excellence Awards and Book presentations organised by the management of the magazine at the Ingrace Events centre, Enugu, the publisher of the FirstNews Magazine, and senior special assistant to Ugwuanyi on New media, Mr Jonathan Emmanuel Ikechukwu, said that, ” Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi could be best described as a God-sent governor. Gburus is the only governor that has no enemy. “”
He added that, “He is the only governor ever to receive the endorsement of the opposition in unison, the clergy, traders, civil servants, pensioners.”
Still eulogising Ugwuanyi, Jonathan said: “He is humility personified. His managerial abilities are unprecedented. He is the only governor that everybody has his phone numbers. His emergence as the FirstNews Man of the Millennium is an understatement of facts, “he said.
Other recipients included the former governor of Enugu State and senator representing Enugu East senatorial zone, Dr Chimaroke Nnamani, who was honoured with the ( Champion of Girl-Child Education award) the president of Ohaneze Worldwide, Chief Nnia Nwodo, (Icon of Igbo Emancipation award) , the Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical province, Anglican communion, and Bishop of Enugu Diocese,Anglican communion, Most Rev (Dr) Emmanuel Chukwuma , OON, (Voice of the voiceless award), Mrs Josephine Ugwu, the woman who returned $12million she picked at the airport while at work, was honoured with(Outstanding Integrity award,).
Other recipients are the Commissioner of Police, Enugu Police Command, Ahmad Abdulraham (Icon of Peace and Security award) , Human Rights activist and Dean of Law Faculty, University of Nigeria, Enugu campus, Professor Joy Ezeilo ,(Excellence in Women’s Right award), Channels television reporter, Nkiruka Ajogwu, (Community development journalist of the year award) among others.
Speaking at the colourful event which was graced by many dignitaries from all walks of life, one of awardees, Evangelist Sam Maduka Onyishi who was honoured with the Platinum award for Entrepreneurship and integrity, commended the organizers for the award. He described the author of the two books that were launched, ‘”Ikemuefuna” and “The Maverick “written by Chinedu Aroh as a humble, and a reliable journalist.
Another awardee, Chief Joel Ugwuoke, managing director, Golden Value hotel, Nsukka, who was honoured with the (Best hospitality institution of the year,
said he did not buy the award. ” I brought entertainment down to my town, that made Nsukka proud. If I had built it in Abuja or Lagos, I would have made more money. My people appreciate it. They are happy. I want my people to emulate what Ifesinachi did. Let them think home and establish at home. “, he said.
Mrs Josephine Ugwu in a chat, thanked the organizers for honoring her. She said she has found money at the airport severally and returned them She advised people to live and an honest life and do not take what does not belong to them. “Honesty is the key”, she said.
The organiser of the event and publisher, First news Magazine, Mr Jonathan Emmanuel Ikechukwu, thanked the awardees for their various contributions in the development of the society and urged them not to relent in their good works.
