Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has presented the 2020 budget estimate of N169. 567,658 billion tagged, ” Budget of responsive and accountable government ” to the Enugu State House of Assembly for approval.
Presenting the budget at the Chambers of the House of Assembly, Ugwuanyi said that the 2020 budget proposal , is 55.2% higher than that of 2019 budget.He that N100.77 billion was set aside for capital expenditure while recurrent expenditure stands at N68.79 billion.
He said that “the increase in the budget was necessitated by the need to further meet the developmental needs of the people in the area of education, transportation, health and other infrastructure.”
The recurrent expenditure is N68,9Billion, higher than that of 2019 by 69 percent. Capital expenditure was N400.77 Billion while recurrent revenue was N109,8 Billion higher than the N96,9Billion of 2019.Statutory allocation was N65.65 Billion.
Ugwuanyi assured that his government will ensure it grows its internally generated revenue to account for 50 per cent of the state income by 2023.
Speaker Edward Ubosi assured that the House would fast track action on the budget to ensure that it was passed before Christmas.
He commended Ugwuanyi for his good works in the State assuring continuous support of the Assembly members to the Ugwuanyi administration.
