COVID-19: Groups donate hand washing facilities to  Enugu Govt

Ugwuanyi

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State says his administration is determined to leave legacies at the rural communities of the state.
Ugwuanyi said his administration would review the scope of the ‘one community, one project’ initiative of his administration.
The governor disclosed this on Monday in Enugu during an interaction with local government chairmen, their deputies, councilors and other administrators at the third tier of government.
The ‘one community, one project’ initiative is an arrangement where each autonomous community in the state is expected to receive N10million to executive projects of their choice.
Most of the autonomous communities have received the first tranche of N5million.
Ugwuanyi said that his desire to transform the rural communities could lead to the review and increase of benefits accruable from the scheme.
The governor said that the need to make the rural areas of the state more attractive had become more compelling.
He said that such need had made it imperative for all elected local government officials who resided in urban centres and outside their jurisdiction to relocate to their communities.
According to Ugwuanyi, doing such will promote effective local administration and development.
He urged public office holders at that tier of government to redouble efforts and be dedicated to their responsibility of rendering service to the people at the rural areas.
Ugwuanyi said that his administration was in a hurry to deliver on its campaign promises, adding that the policies of his administration would be better felt and carried out when elected office holders reside amongst their people.
Ugwuanyi said that the economy of the rural areas would be activated when such people operate from there.
