CAN

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, on Thursday, joined members and leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Enugu State chapter to pray for the peace and security of the country.
Declaring open the prayer rally at Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, the  state chairman of CAN, Rev. Emmanuel  Edeh, said the theme of the prayer rally was “My Peace I Give Unto You”.
Edeh said that the theme was occasioned by the prevailing circumstances in the country.
He stated: “as Christians, we quickly remembered the words of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in John 14:27, which says “My Peace I Give Unto You.”
The CAN chairman stressed that Nigerians need peace in their hearts, peace  at homes, peace in the communities as well as peace in all local government areas.
He noted that Enugu State needed peace, peace in the South East Zone, peace in  Nigeria and the world.
In his congregational prayer, the Chaplain of Upper Room Ministries, Enugu, Rev.  Tony Nnaji, called on the people of God to unite and rise to the prevailing challenges in the country.
He said that prayers still remains paramount and asked Christians to pray fervently and speak with one voice for God intervention.
In their separate intercessory prayer sessions, the representatives of the five blocs of CAN in Enugu State prayed for peace,  gratitude to God and forgiveness of sins against bloodshed.
They also prayed against insecurity in Nigeria,  peace for the leaders and the youths and Nigeria in general.
In his prayer,  Bishop Godwin Madu of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), thanked God for giving Ugwuanyi  the wisdom, character and leadership qualities and ushered in peace and good governance.
The Bishop prayed for God’s protection on the people of Nigeria and called on God to come and rescue the country in this time of difficulties.
“Our Supernatural God, please rescue us from this bad situation of violence, killings, banditry and armed robbery in our dear country. We have faith that you will rescue and deliver Nigeria.
“It is no longer in the hands of the President, Governors, Army or other security agencies; it is you, God that will bring peace and security to Nigeria,” he said.
In his goodwill message, the governor, through the Commissioner for Information, Chidi Aroh, thanked God for the various prayers offered.
The governor  pointed out that peace and security being enjoyed in Enugu State were among the cardinal policies of the present administration.
He noted that it was because of the peace that all the past governors of the state came together to chart a new course for the progress of the state.
