Ugwuanyi hails church for partnership in development

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has commended the leaders of the Church of Jesus Chris t of Latter Day Saints Charity for their contributions to the development of the state.

He made the remarks on Thursday when he commissioned the administrative block of the Vocational center, Emene.

Represented by the Deputy governor , Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, the governor also thanked the leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Ikechukwu Ezeugwu for partnering the church in the renovation of the administrative block and donation of wheel chairs of the Centre

The governor said that the state had enjoyed good partnership with the faith based charity organization in developmental efforts in the state.

Ezeilo noted that the governor had visited the facility and has rendered assistance to improve the well being of the staff and students through provision of solar light, renovation of hostels, sinking of bole holes , provision of perimeter fencing to provide security among others

The representative of the governor commended the commissioner for Gender Affairs and Social Development, Princess Peace Nnaji for her good services in the state. The governor announced the donation of six wheel chairs by an NGO, Cecilia Ezeilo Foundation.

Speaking, the commissioner for Gender Affairs and social development, Princess Peace Nnaji, thanked Ugwuanyi for his support to the Centre which included installation of solar light, renovation of hostels. She also thanked the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Days Saints for donating 12 wheel chairs to the Vocational center.

In his speech, the representative of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints Charity, Chidi Akujiezeh said his church had been doing the works of charity, helping in building a better a better society.
On his part, leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ikechukwu Ezeugwu, thanked governor Ugwuanyi for bringing the Centre to the public. He pledged continuous support for the Centre.

Earlier in his address, the principal of the Centre, Mr Anthony Ezejugo thanked governor Ugwuanyi for the good works he has done in the Centre and the state. He said that the Centre and the state. He added that the Vocation centre was established in 1980 for the physically challenged. They trained students in tailoring, carpentry, arts and crafts among others.
Highlights of the event were the exhibition clothing and footwear made by the students and the commissioning of the renovated administrators block, presentation of songs and cultural dance.
The Deputy Governor, Mrs Ezeilo, announced that her foundation, Cecilia Ezeilo Foundation, will renovate the carpentry workshop of the centre
They bought some of the footwears.
