glo_logoMajor sponsor of Nigerian national teams, Globacom, has congratulated the Golden Eaglets for qualifying for the semi final of the on-going FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

Forward Taiwo Awoniyi scored the brace with which Nigeria eliminated Uruguay in their quarter final encounter in Sharja on Saturday and the Manu Garba-tutored Eaglets will now face Sweden in one of the two semi final matches scheduled for Tuesday.

“The Golden Eaglets have made Nigeria proud because of the results they have achieved in the competition and the tremendous teamwork they displayed,” Globacom said in a statement in Lagos on Sunday

“The Eaglets have shown that they are ready to achieve the ultimate goal. We wish to enjoin the team and their coaches not to relent in their effort to win the trophy by defeating Sweden on Tuesday to book the final ticket.”

The telecoms firm commended the Nigeria Football Federation for its motivational role that has seen the country’s representatives live up to expectation while also urging the federation not to rest on its oars.

“The support given to the team by Nigerians at match venues also contributed a lot to the success achieved so far and we wish to commend the supporters for their patriotism,” the statement further said.

Globacom is the major partner of the Nigeria Football Federation and official telecommunications sponsor of the national teams.
