Rangers International Football Club of Enugu on Sunday secured the three points at stake in their 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) encounter with Bayelsa United at the Awka Township Stadium.

The visitors from Yenagoa took the lead through Alax Oyowah in the 36th minute of the Match Day 10 fixture after absorbing a number of attacks by the hosts.

But Rangers restored parity through a penalty kick by Godwin Obaje in the 48th minute and later went ahead in the 87th minute when Chidera Ezeh scored their other penalty kick.

The victory moved the Flying Antelopes into seventh position on the log of the league’s Group B after three wins three draws and four losses.

In a post-match press conference, Rangers’ coach, Mbwas Mangut, described the victory as hard-fought and well deserved.

Mangut said his team remained a work in progress as their performance was not the best they could offer.

He however poured encomiums on the competitive prowess of the visitors.
