Two persons lost their lives on Sunday evening at Kobape village on Abeokuta-Sagamu expressway when a Sienna car lost control and somersaulted several times after a burst tyre.

Mrs Cicilia Alao, the FRSC’s Head of Operations in Ogun Sector, who confirmed the accident, attributed the accident to over-speeding.

She said that the driver was travelling at a very top speed when one of his vehicle’s tyres burst, forcing him to lose control of the vehicle with the registration number: Lagos EPE 158 BE.

Alao said that the vehicle was travelling from Lagos to Abeokuta when the accident occurred.

She said that the driver died on the spot, while one of the four passengers died on their way to the hospital.

Alao said that the remains of the victims had been deposited at Ijaye General Hospital, Abeokuta, while three other injured persons were also receiving treatment at the same hospital.

She warned motorists against purchasing used tyres, as well as over-speeding while on the highway.
