Tunji Abayomi: We’ll resist Tinubu’s plan to impose Ondo APC guber candidate

Governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, has accused National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, of plotting to impose Dr. Segun Abraham as the candidate for the November 26 election.

To Abayomi, all the other 24 aspirants will resist such a plot to impose Abraham as the party’s flagbearer in the Sunshine State.

The primaries will hold on August 27.

Abayomi, who spoke on behalf of the other aspirants, said after each aspirant had paid the mandatory N7.5 million nomination fee, it would be undemocratic to impose anybody on them without going through a democratic process.

He said: “I am speaking on behalf of the majority of the aspirants. We want to know whether this is true because we have a constitution that determines the procedure of electing a candidate.

“We are from Ondo State and we expect that our affairs should be largely controlled either by law or the people of Ondo State. So, we reject the government of leaders by the leaders to the privileged set of leaders. If Tinubu had directed that this is the person he wants to use, that means that he is the one constituting government over the people to his own benefit.”

Abayomi, a human rights activist, said they were determined to ensure that nobody is imposed on the party.
