Tukur denies daring Jonathan, says he remains National Chairman of PDP

bamanga_tukur2The National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, said he had not resigned from the position.

Tukur stated this in a statement he issued in Abuja on Tuesday.

He expressed shock at the purported report of his resignation, saying it was sponsored by those he described as “desperate hawks within and outside the party.’’

Such persons, he said, were out to pull down the structure of the ruling party.

He said he found it incomprehensible that certain members of the party could concoct lies against his person in order to justify their dastardly plot to pull down his leadership.

The national chairman stressed that “such action would, in the long run, obviate so negatively PDP’s permutations over 2015.

“This is not the first time they would do this; they had sponsored media reports severally to say I had resigned.

“Yet, Almighty God had continued to shame them because they were not the ones who kept me on this seat.

“They went further to sponsor media reports that I was to confront our President over an issue they could not expatiate on.

“The agents of darkness have taken over the place. Nigeria and members of our party should beware’’, Tukur said.

He pointed out that he had never contemplated resign nor kept anyone in confidence about his resolve.

“I will never subject my resignation at any point to media speculation.’’

He held that he had done everything practicable to put the PDP on track and keep the agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan for transforming Nigeria away from distraction.

This, he maintained, was the reason why he was undergoing tribulations.

Tukur blamed those he described as agents of discords within and outside the party as the masterminds of the seemingly intractable crises within the party.

He maintained that he was in good term with President Jonathan and the party leaders, adding that they met often and took strategic decisions.

“No one, not even the devil, can make me be in needless confrontation with the President. We are one in spirit and the enemies would be shocked to see PDP back on stream”, he stressed.

Tukur expressed dismay in earlier reports that he had dared President Jonathan on the issue of plot to remove him.

He said he had no reason to say so because the President was never part of such plot.

According to him, “the president had been a good fellow to me, a brother, a leader of the party and I am his greatest confidant.’’

Tukur said that he was aware that the plot to remove him was being orchestrated.

He added that he would keep his head up while those behind the plot would soon realise that they were pursuing a wrong cause.

He advised his perceived opponents to be wary of the future and the day of retribution for wrong doing.

“If I did nothing to wrong a soul, if I try my best all the time to make our party become stronger and great and some people plot to fight me on my stand to be just, Almighty Allah will vindicate me.’’
