The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed that a fatal road crash in Epe claimed one life and left three others seriously injured.
According to the agency’s General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the incident occurred at Aiyetoro Junction near the traffic light corridor in Epe, Lagos.
Preliminary reports indicate that a truck loaded with yams, bearing registration number AGL 764 XB and travelling from Ijebu-Ode, attempted to make a U-turn toward Eleko when the driver allegedly lost control. The vehicle reportedly slammed into a stationary tricycle with registration number SMK 127 QR.
The collision resulted in the death of one occupant, while three others sustained critical injuries.
Bakare-Oki stated that LASTMA officials, working alongside the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigeria Police Force, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and military personnel, rescued the injured victims from the wreckage.
The FRSC transported both the deceased and the injured to the General Hospital in Epe for medical attention and further procedures.
Security agencies reportedly ensured order at the scene while facilitating the smooth restoration of traffic flow.
The LASTMA boss called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, stressing that anyone found responsible should face appropriate legal action.
