Trinidad and Tobago to showcase ‘Pan Music’ at NIHOTOUR gastronomy festival.

The High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago in Nigeria,  Wedell VC De Landro, says plans are underway to host a ‘Pan Music’ rendition, as part of his country’s cultural display at National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) gastronomy festival

Director-General of NIHOTOUR, Alhaji Nura Kangiwa, in a statement issued by his Special Assistant, Technical, Joesef Karim, on Monday in Abuja, said since inception of ‘Gastronomy Festival’ in 2021, Nigerian and International music and cultural displays had been a regular feature.

The High Commissioner, who made the pledge in Abuja , during a courtesy visit of Kangiwa, the chief host of the annual NIHOTOUR festival, said such would contribute to the boosting of the festival.

According to High Commissioner, Pan Music is indigenous to Trinidad & Tobago, saying that Pan Music is popular among Caribbean countries.

He added that such Pan Music had long been exported to North America and Europe, though the music genre has poor showing in Africa.

” The High commissioner is driven to promote Pan Music in Nigeria and at NIHOTOUR gastronomy festival, which avails a workable opportunity.

” He plan to also encourage future pannists among secondary school students in Nigeria,” he said.

Earlier, NIHOTOUR boss expressed delight at the introduction of Pan Music rendition in the cultural display sessions of the annual ‘Gastronomy Festival’.

Kangiwa Stated that the participation of ‘Trinidad & Tobago’ in this third edition of the food festival with Pan music colorful entertainment, would certainly enthrall visitors, as well as expanding the reach of the food festival in future editions.

Nura Kangiwa assured the High Commissioner of ‘Trinidad & Tobago’ of his maximum support for the popularity of Pan Music in Nigeria, using NIHOTOUR gastronomy festival as a springboard, as well as his capacity as a tourism promoter.

NIHOTOUR’s ‘Gastronomy Festival’ is one of the most culturally eclectic culinary arts and related gastronomy event in Africa.

The event will attracts over 5000 visitors and industry stakeholders, who participate in the experiential learning of food production processes and indulge in free sampling of diverse Nigerian, international cuisines and beverages on display.

Typically, the festival is laced with traditional gaiety and entertainments, that highlight Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity, including musicals and dance choreography.

Activities lined-up for this year’s ‘Gastronomy Festival’ include exhibitions of cuisines by select African and European countries.

Others are diverse culinary arts displays such as Knife skills, Fruit Carving, Cake decoration, essay writing/quiz for secondary schools, and cooking competition amongst culinary schools.

They would be conferences involving Nigeria’s leading tourism and hospitality stakeholders and business operators, especially those that are members of the Hospitality and Tourism Sector Skills Council of Nigeria (HTSSCN).

Also, NIHOTOUR would deliver training and masterclasses for members of the Association of Nigerian Journalists and Travel Writers
