Less than six months after he was sworn in as governor, the Taraba State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, on Saturday, sacked Governor Darius Ishaku.
Ishaku contested the April 11 election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and sworn in on May 29.
The tribunal, headed by Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar, declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Hajia Aisha Alhassan, the winner.
She must be sworn in immediately as the governor of the North-East state, the tribunal ruled.
It is believed that Ishaku and the PDP will appeal the judgement.
Hajia Alhassan is a minister designate.
The tribunal, which moved its sitting from Jalingo, the state capital, to Abuja, declared that since Ishaku was not duly nominated by his political, he must vacate the office for Hajia Alhassan.
