The Ayangbure of Ikorodu in Lagos State, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, on Tuesday urged Nigerians to be prayerful and believe in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The royal father made the call during the annual Christmas Carol at his palace in Ikorodu, on Tuesday.

He said that the President was  working towards repositioning the economy of Nigeria.

“I want people to believe in Christ and believe in prayers, despite the situation of the country, we are still alive.

“We should continue to pray because we don’t want to witness war, we want peace and once we have peace, every other thing will follow.

“Anything that will be good, will be tough at the beginning; let us give the President a chance to make our country better,” Ayangburen said.

According to him, Nigeria is one of the leading countries in terms of human capital and has produced lots of brilliant people that are marketable in the whole world.

He urged residents to live peacefully and show love to one another during the Yuletide and beyond.

“We should continue to pray and do good to ourselves, as you are asking God to bless you, try and bless somebody,” he said.

Very Rev. John Solubi, Minister in-charge of Patriarch Bolaji Methodist Cathedral, Ikorodu, admonished people to be prayerful, peaceful and spread good news to save lives.

Solubi, who took his sermon from 2Kings Chapter 7, verses 9-11, urged Nigerians to show love to one another and support the less privileged in their communities.

“This is time for gifts for less privileged,” he said.

Earlier, Chief Ayodele Elesho, former Lagos State Commissioner for information, said the annual event was organised for people to celebrate and rejoice with the traditional ruler, being the father of all.

Elesho called on residents to be calm and support the present government for things to work out as expected.

“Kabiyesi has been doing this event for the past eight years and we are enjoying it,  elderly people are also here to celebrate with him.

“He is a cheerful giver and preaches peace to all.

“My prayer is for us to be calm and assist government for things to work out as expected,” he said.

Also speaking, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, Chairman, Ikorodu Development Association, described Christmas as a period of thanksgiving.

He said it was a time to reflect on what Christ stood for, the outgoing year and the one to come.
