The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV), on Monday, applauded Dr Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, for revolutionising the solid minerals sector in the country.

Mr Chukwudi Enekwechi, the Chairman of TMV, said in a statement that the minister had succeeded in breathing life into an all-important sector that had over the years not lived up to its potential.

“Before Alake emerged as the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, the ministry was dormant and rarely recorded any achievements.

“We are, therefore, gratified that on his watch, the Ministry has performed optimally in the last year as it diligently implements President Tinubu’s reform agenda in the sector.

“We believe that with the implementation of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda by the minister, the future of the mining sector in Nigeria is very bright,” said TMV.

It added that the aggressive revenue generation by the ministry would create room for sustainable economic development in the country and job creation for its teeming youths.

“We believe that through rigorous regulation and enforcement, the solid minerals sector will contribute meaningfully to the country’s Gross Domestic Product.

“We also note that towards the realisation of this goal, the ministry had set up the Mining Marshalls as the enforcement wing and has in the last year made remarkable strides in restoring sanity to the sector.

“We, therefore, consider the generation of N6.7 billion from mining licence fees as not only novel but very encouraging news coming from the sector,” the group stated.

It also said the revenue generated further showed the huge potential inherent in the sector when managed with a transparent and focused leadership.
