Three health workers kidnapped in Nasarawa, abductors of Seaman demand N4m ransom in Delta

Unknown gunmen on Thursday abducted three officials of the Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (NSPHCDA), along Nasarawa-Toto road.
Mr Kennedy Idrisu, Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in Nasarawa State, who confirmed the incident, said that the three officials were traveling in a white Toyota Hilux van when the gunmen pounced on them at Bugan-Gwari village, about noon,
“The abductors seized the workers and took them to an unknown destination,” he said in Lafia.
He said that the victims were on an official assignment from Lafia to Gadabuke in Toto Local Government, when they were seized by the gunmen.
Idrisu said that a joint police and military team, in collaboration with the local vigilante, had been mobilised to the area with the view to rescue the victims and possibly arrest the abductors.
He said that the command was working assiduously to stem the tide of armed robbery and kidnapping in the state, and called for continuous support in that respect.
Contacted, Dr. Mohammed Adiz, the Executive Chairman of NSPHCDA, described the incident as unfortunate, but declined further comment.
Meanwhile, the gunmen who allegedly kidnapped a Seaman simply identified as Omoniyi Kola in Delta State have demanded a sum of N4 million ransom to release him.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the development to newsmen on Thursday in Warri.
Aniamaka said the victim was abducted on September 29, on the Sapele/Benin Expressway, adding that effort was on to rescue him unhurt.
“There is a report of kidnap. The person allegedly kidnapped is a Seaman. His name is Omoniyi K. D.
“He was last seen in the evening of September 29, when he drove out of the Naval Engineering College, Sapele, in his Toyota Picnic vehicle.
“The hoodlums called with his number demanding for Four Million Naira ransom.
“The Police are doing everything possible with all the relevant Security Agencies toward his rescue and the apprehension of the hoodlums.
“All hands are on deck toward his rescue,” Aniamaka said.
The police spokesman said that some arrests were made in connection with the crime but declined to disclose the number of persons arrested so far.
“Our concern at this moment is seeing that the victim is secured out of the den of the kidnappers unhurt and everyone involved in the crime is made to face the law,” he said.
