The exemplary performances of two artists and one photographer who typify the current push by Africans who are taking their passions to new levels and creating sundry vibrant portfolios across several media is the thematic concern of this week’s edition of CNN African Voices sponsored by the grandmasters of data, Globacom.
The guests on the programme include Jo’burger, Tumelo Mosaka and Khatoum, Sudan based Gala Yousif who will be joined by Mauritius iconic photographer, Paul Choy.
The curtain raiser will be Paul Choy, who will afford viewers the opportunity of seeing the island of Mauritius through a photographer’s eyes as he captures the daily life of residents. “I never planned on becoming a photographer.  It happened completely by accident. Ever since I was a small child, I always wanted to be an explorer, enjoying nothing better than just discovering something new. But what use is knowledge unless it is shared?” Paul queries.
The artist, photographer and writer well known for his annotated pictures with pithy titles explained that he started carrying cameras everywhere in order to capture the stories and immortalize images of people and places visited.
World renowned curator, Tumelo Mosaka who exhibits around the world, is the second guest on the programme and he would deploy his skills to highlight contemporary African art. The South African is famous for exploring global and transnational artistic productions especially from Africa, the Caribbeans and North America using themes such as racial injustice, migration and identity.
32 year-old Galal Yousif, the last guest, is expected to speak on arts, sculpture and painting. Whilst speaking on her passion, the Arts graduate of Sudan University enthused “I draw to feel that I am doing a little change in my life. Even, if it is just a bit”.
Viewers can watch CNN African Voices on the Cable News Network, CNN, at 9.30 a.m. on Friday. Repeat editions will be broadcast at 3.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. on Saturday and 11.30 a.m and 6.30 p.m. on Sunday. Further repeats will be broadcast at 10.30 a.m. on Monday and 4.30 a.m. on Tuesday.
