Rather than thaw, the crisis in the Ondo State chapter of  the All Progressives Congress (APC) worsened at the weekend as some leaders of the party have elected another parallel interim committee to lead the party before the congress.

This development made it the third interim committee of the party that had emerged in two weeks.

The factional chairman of the Interim Committee is the former chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Chief Noah Adesoji, while the former state chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Mr. Olalekan Obolo emerged as his secretary.

Others are the former state chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Chief Yemisi Aladesaye, who was elected treasurer, Mrs. Damilola Oluyemi organising secretary and Alhaji Bala Umar as the Public Relations Officer.

A statement by the new PRO of the party, said the election of the new committee was performed by 19 out of the 31 members of the harmonisation committee of the party.

Umar said the people met to elect the interim officers to manage the affairs of the party between now until the conduct of congresses to elect substantive officers for the party.

The statement said: “For the avoidance of doubt, the Ondo State APC harmonisation committee consists of 31 members and 19 of these 31 members were present at the meeting with the three legacy party state chairmen, that is, ACN, ANPP and CPC in attendance as well as their national officers”.

The statement directed all local government chairmen of the defunct parties to meet in their respective local government areas to jointly appoint two registration officers per polling unit, four registration supervisors per ward and four registration supervisors per local government.

Umar said the names should be forwarded to the APC secretariat in the state located along Ondo road, Akure, the state capital.
