A few days after suspected Fulani herdsmen set ablaze the farm of a judge of Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Michael Owoyemi, the farm of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae, in Akure, Ondo State was torched on Sunday.
The suspected herdsmen invaded the farm, known for oil plantation, cassava and yam, around 4pm and set it ablaze.
It is believed the setting ablaze of the farm is to allow new weeds grow to feed cows.
No life was lost as the workers of the farm located at Ilado, Akure North Local Government, were not around, being a Sunday.
Falae has been having a running battle with suspected Fulani herdsmen, culminating in his kidnap in 2016.
The former SGF confirmed the burning of the farm to reporters in Akure.
Immediately, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu called Falae to sympathise with him, vowing to defend the right of people in the state to engage in farming, saying security forces have been mobilized to nip in the bud the crisis.
False’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), Captain Moshood Raji (rtd), said he (Raji) was called by one of the policemen guarding the farm.
The Divisional Police Officer later visited the scene.
