Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has called on all residents of the state to unite across party lines and join hands with his administration in order to take the state to greater heights, as Supreme Court affirmed his victory in Abuja on Wednesday.
The governor, in a statement in Lafia, said that unity promotes development, hence the need for the people of the state to unite in order to bring speedy development to the state.
“I wish to thank God almighty for bringing to an end the trial at the Supreme Court and affirming my victory today as Governor of Nasarawa State.
“On our part, it is my personal conviction and firm believe that those who challenged our election victory in court were moved by patriotism.
“And a sincere concern for justice to be seen to prevail and a genuine respect for our democracy to grow.
”We, therefore, do not consider ourselves as winners and do not see the opposition, who challenged our election victory, as losers.
“ We are all one people bound by the common desire to serve our people and develop Nasarawa State.
” I, therefore, thank the opposition for seeking a clear interpretation of the law as regards my election victory and by this action, expand the very frontiers of our democracy, ” he said.
Sule added that the state belonged to all, while calling on the people to pray and support his administration to succeed.
He said that Nasarawa State belonged to all, that and the State was blessed with credible citizens and iconic personalities of different political shades and leanings who could contribute to its development and progress.
” I welcome you all with open hands to join us in taking Nasarawa State to its rightful place of destiny, ” he said.
The governor also assured the people of his administration’s readiness to key into good policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on their lives.
