Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, has described the Supreme Court ruling upholding his victory in the last governorship election in the state as well deserved.
According to him, the victory is a further confirmation of his overwhelming triumph at the polls.
The apex court, on Tuesday, affirmed Dickson as the validly-elected governor, dismissing the appeal by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr. Timipre Sylva.
Reacting to the victory, Dickson commended the judiciary for rising up to the occasion by standing firm and reaffirming the earlier decisions of the tribunal and the Appeal Court, which had also dismissed the petition of Sylva contesting his victory.
Dickson used the occasion to express his gratitude to the people of the state for their unwavering support before, during and after the last governorship election in the state.
While thanking God for his victory at the apex court, he restated his commitment to developing the state to the best of his abilities, stressing that, despite the economic downturn, his administration will not renege on its agenda of restoration consolidation.
“This is a total victory and it is for the entire people of Bayelsa State and a victory for our nation’s democracy,” he noted.
